Ishay Attar, CEO, Founder
Prior to founding LifeBond, Ishay served as VP of Business Development at Misgav Venture Accelerator where he recruited and fostered the growth of 16 early stage companies. Ishay’s business expertise together with his scientific background helped these companies formulate successful strategies for value creation from initial start-up stage through ensuing rounds of investment. Ishay holds a B.Sc. in Biotechnology Engineering, M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering and MBA, cum laude, from the Technion, Israel’s foremost institute of technology. Other life science companies that Ishay co-founded include Seraffix Ltd, which is developing a laser skin soldering system, and Neuroquest Ltd, which is developing a biomarker kit for neurodegenerative diseases.

 

Orahn Preiss-Bloom, VP Operations, Founder
Before founding LifeBond, Orahn completed his national service as a researcher at the IDF Institute for Military Physiology. Previously, Orahn had spent three years coordinating research on surgical procedure biomechanics at New York Presbyterian Hospital’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He also helped establish a laboratory for quantitative tissue engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he afterwards completed a long term study of polymer scaffolds for cartilage tissue engineering. Orahn holds a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University and an M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from the Technion.

 

Itzik Ravid, Manufacturing Director
A veteran mainstay of the biotechnology industry in Israel, Itzik brings many years of manufacturing and process development experience to LifeBond. Prior to joining LifeBond, Itzik founded and was VP Operations of the Israel subsidiary of SciGen Ltd, where he oversaw the establishment and validation of a cGMP cell culture, protein purification, and aseptic filling facility. Previously, he was a manager of the protein purification department at Interpharm, at the time the largest biotechnology company in Israel. He also held several positions at Biotechnology General (BTG), since acquired by Ferring Pharmaceutical, where he gained expertise in the fields of protein purification, in-process control, and manufacturing.

 

Yaron Assaf MD, Clinical Director.
Yaron brings both clinical study expertise and years of general surgery experience to LifeBond. Before joining LifeBond, Yaron served as the Medical Director of Cardiodex, where he directed the preclinical and clinical studies for an arterial closure device. Previously, he served as Clinical Affairs Manager for Mindguard, where he directed preclinical and clinical studies for an intra-arterial stent-like device. Yaron has also held senior clinical affair roles in other companies, including Alma Lasers. Dr. Assaf received his MD from Tel Aviv University and performed his surgical residency at Bnei-Zion Medical Center in Haifa. In his spare time, Yaron volunteers as a physician in developing countries, primarily in Africa.

 

Thomas Bayer Ph.D, R&D Manager:
Thomas is one of Israel's foremost experts in collagen-derived biomaterials and medical devices. Prior to joining LifeBond, Thomas led the innovative product research group at ColBar LifeSciences Ltd., then a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson (J&J). In that capacity, he developed a range of novel products including dermal implants, tissue engineering scaffolds, and composite materials. He also worked closely with J&J research staff to support a variety of other biomaterial projects. Previously, Thomas worked as an R&D Project Manager at Teva Pharmaceuticals after completing his post-doctoral research fellowship at Bar Ilan University. He holds a doctorate in Chemistry from the TU Dresden, and a MSc in Analytical Chemistry from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden.
